    This is an interim and test release. In this version of Chinwag Social, we've incorporated a patch from the Fedibird project that allows filtering of incoming posts based on a regex pattern.

    We're adopting this outside of the normal release cycle due to an ongoing spam wave, as this will allow us to prevent receipt of these messages.

    The filter feature may or may not be included in future Chinwag releases.

    Please note: there was no Chinwag 4.3.5 release, due to the upstream Mastodon releases coming back-to-back and the later one being out before we'd tested the one before it.

    This is primarily a security and bugfix update, incorporating changes from Mastodon 4.3.6, however it does include a change to hashtag suggestions, to prefer a user's prior personal capitalisation choices.

    This is a minor update release, which syncs us up with Mastodon 4.3.3. There are some minor changes to the default theming, in that the Fediverse logo in the corner is now IN COLOUR! It needed a bit of brightening up, that's all.

    This release syncs with Mastodon 4.3.1 and TangerineUI 2.2, with some minor theme colour changes and a bit of restructuring.

    We now include the unmodified tangerineui.scss in app/javascript/styles/tangerineui and all Chinwag-specific modifications are in a separate file, chingerine.scss. This should make upstream updates a lot easier to manage, as we won't need to merge changes.

    Chinwag is now synced with the Mastodon 4.3 branch, with a new default theme based on TangerineUI.

    Setting the default Chinwag theme in user preferences will track the browser's dark/light mode setting and adjust accordingly. The pre-4.3 Chinwag theme is available as an option "Chinwag Classic".

    Known Issues

    1. Due to the way Tangerine UI works, setting a "dark" or "light" variant in user preferences will only affect the admin pages, which use the "Classic" theme variant only.
    2. Some Dark mode elements in the Tangerine-based theme have poor contrast or visibility and still need adjustment.
